Some Arcana Cards allow Great Old Ones to summon random Monsters to aid in their cause and can either be used to bulk-up a conflict or may create combat out of the normal game Turn Phase in much the same way as an Event Card. If Monster cards are played as part of the normal Combat Phase, they simply become part of the Attacker or Defender’s forces.
If they are used to torment the enemy out of the normal game turn sequence, the combat is resolved immediately as per an Event Card, and then play continues as normal.
